Northern 3 CMC Sports 5 Trelai, 9th September Starting
XI After a good win the previous week Northern knew they were in for a tough game against the champions of their division last season. After a solid defensive play the previous week things started badly for Northern when they found themselves 3-0 down inside 20 minutes following two long range chips when Martyn Rich came racing out and got caught in no mans land and another from a freekick that went over the wall and straight over Martyn's head. Northern got back into it when David Manley set Nicky Ball free down the right and he cut the ball back from the by-line for Stephen Mustey to tap in from close range. Further poor defending allowed CMC another goal and the half time score was 4-1, but could have been closer but for the CMC keeper making some excellent saves, most notably a great one on one block from Nicky. Northern improved after the break and when Carl French scored directly from a corner they were back in the game but when Frenchy allowed his man to get around him and mistimed header from Matthew Rowley allowed an attacker in front of substitute Simon Paterson for a headed goal to make the score 5-2. Simon pulled a goal back from a Mustey headed knock down but the time ran out before any more goals could be scored. Subs: Simon Paterson,
